I think it can work, but only through slow reform (hence marxism fails) Then you are removing the people who stop it working through changes in social attitudes rather than oppression.

Ingame its not supposed to work, but its possible if its planned and strictly implemented. Its similar with rl life. It will never work in a developed nation, nor an underdeveloped one, you need a fastly growing economic/population nation providing a willing mass working/poverish class to do the dirty work and not argue back.
China is a perfect case in point.

I agree with communism as a principle, yet it is a difficult one to implement. I agree with Bob that it needs to be through social attitude changes rather than oppression
